JAMES S.D. EISENHOWER, III co-founded the firm in 1985. After graduation from Franklin College, Franklin, Indiana in 1969, he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps, earned his Naval Aviator Wings, and served until 1973 with the rank of Captain. In 1977, Mr. Eisenhower graduated with honors from George Mason University Law School. Mr. Eisenhower’s practice areas include estate, tax and commercial law. In addition, he is an adjunct professor at Marymount University School of Business.  Mr. Eisenhower is rated A-V by Martindale-Hubbell® and has several published works including:

  • "Spouse's Rights and Family Maintenance," "Closing the Estate," and "Ethics in Probate Practice" in Basic Probate Procedures and Practice in Virginia, National Business Institute: Eau Claire, 2003;

ALEXANDER LAUFER joined the firm in 1994. His practice is concentrated in real estate transactions and civil litigation, providing services in the areas of personal injury law, legal and medical malpractice and employment law.  Mr. Laufer grew up in Montreal, Canada but lived and attended school in Jerusalem and Johannesburg, South Africa. He speaks four languages, English, French, Hungarian and Hebrew. Mr. Laufer graduated (cum laude) in 1972 from Loyola College and with High Honors from the University of Florida School of Law in 1976. Mr. Laufer is also an adjunct professor in the Marymount University School of Business.  He is a member of both the Virginia and Florida bars and is a Commissioner in Chancery in Fairfax County.  Mr. Laufer has over 20 years of experience in complex litigation and has handled thousands of residential and commercial real estate transactions.

RICHARD M. TARBY co-founded the firm in 1985. His practice areas include tax,estate and business law. A 1969 graduate from Georgetown University, he earned his law degree from the Georgetown University Law Center in 1973 and a Masters Degree in Taxation from the same school in 1978. Mr. Tarby worked with Internal Revenue Service in Washington, D.C. and the Tax Division of the Office of the Corporation Counsel for the District of Columbia as an Assistant Corporation Counsel. Mr. Tarby is a member of the Virginia and District of Columbia Bars and is rated A-V by Martindale-Hubbell®. He regularly serves as an instructor in tax and estate planning at the Drug Enforcement Agency Training Center in Quantico, Virginia and as a lecturer at conferences of the International Foundation of Employee Benfit Plans. Mr. Tarby is an experienced tax advisor and planner who has worked with high-net-worth individuals, small businesses, seniors and the disabled. In addition, he is an adjunct professor in the Marymount University School of Business and General Counsel to the Florian Foundation.
